Kitchen: Industrial Chic Interior Design

In the kitchen, we created a beautiful, sleek space with lots of storage, light and room to manoeuvre easily. Industrial, modern styling meant plenty of high, wall hung cabinets, matt black-base units, deep drawers, pull out internal dividers and hidden utilities, for a clean, organised and contemporary look.

The expanse of worktop space is ideal, with a large proportion of the countertop facing the river whilst defining the transition into the living area.

The inclusion of a slick BORA hob in the centre, turns the cooking area into a desirable place to relax, cook and entertain whilst soaking up the views.

Creating a gorgeous and relaxing centralised cooking space, our client can cook whilst remaining part of the action taking place in the rest of the living space.

This is a stunning, inviting kitchen area that completely alters the rest of the apartment, changing it into an exciting, modern and enjoyable home. Wooden flooring in rustic oak and accents of wooden decor were the perfect companion to warm the cool grey, blue and white palette.

Providing a seamless transition into the living areas and hallway, the sumptuous oak flooring is accompanied by downlights, gorgeous statement mood lighting, exposed shelving, a cooling glass splashback using the Farrow and Ball parma gray colour and the contrasting black hob, to create a luxurious, sophisticated and elegant finish.

Living Area: Industrial Chic Styling

Flooded with light, the new, open plan living space is all about the spectacular riverside views.

The original floor to ceiling windows are transformed into the dominant feature of the room, highlighting the east London property’s enviable views across the Thames.

Upgraded with minimal styling, a neutral palette and well-chosen statement pieces, we created a bright, appealing and spacious living area.

The continuation of oak throughout the space, accented with refined pops of industrial blues and blacks plus plenty of clean lines, make the area feel comfortable, roomy and stylish.

The dramatic, Louis Poulsen pendant light is the perfect complement to the apartment’s understated decor. Delivering a flourish of creative abstract styling, the ingenious concentric design is reminiscent of a stripped back chandelier, injecting personality, warmth and precision lighting into the dining area.

Key pieces of minimalist custom furniture, exposed shelving and lots of functional storage, create a smart and practical space, perfect for everyday living.

The white exposed brick walls, selection of wall and ceiling lights, as well as statement pendant lighting, add layers of interest to the space, whilst enhancing the light and flow of the multiple living areas.

Custom Furniture: Industrial Chic Decor

Echoing the warm oak of the engineered wood floors, our custom storage is a distinct feature of the space.

Commissioned from one of our favourite furniture makers, the finished piece is a triumph.

Providing lots of storage, this is a multi-functional, industrial design, with clean lines, hidden storage and exposed shelving. Interesting angles, beautiful natural grain detailing and a dark metal frame make this a stunning custom piece that finishes the room perfectly whilst ensuring everything remains neatly tucked away and out of sight.

CONTEMPORARY INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

This was a fantastic renovation, resulting in a sophisticated, industrial styled apartment with lots of beautiful spaces designed for contemporary London living.

Opening up the traditional layout to create multiple living areas for eating, cooking and relaxing, the apartment is now flooded with natural light, transforming it into a spacious, bright and stylish modern home with wonderful riverside views.

DESIGN PHASE

Designed by an Akiva Designer

Kitchen supplied by Akiva Kitchen Specialist

All building works carried out and installed by Akiva Approved Contractor

I especially loved working with Akiva designer and that was key for the success of the project. Requirements for all aspects (rooms layout, kitchen, furniture, lighting) were fully understood and fine-tuned to the last detail during the project. One may think that I could have research and buy everything myself, but without experience of a professional designer it could not lead to so such amazing result. Especially designing of bespoke furniture was invaluable.
